As one of the pioneers of the hemp CBD movement, Charlotte’s Web is one of the most popular and most talked about brands out there. In addition to being available for purchase online, Charlotte's Web products are also available locally in many retail and specialty grocery stores across the United States.
Despite being one of the most popular and accessible CBD brands, their labels can be a little confusing for the average consumer. The goal of this article is to help you understand the key differences between their products so you can decide which one is right for you.
Which Charlotte's Web CBD Oil is Right for Me?
As of June 2019, the CW product line consists of 4 full spectrum oils, 1 isolate oil, 3 options of gummies, 2 options of capsules, 2 topicals, drops for dogs and 2 options of dog chews. All of their products are now CO2 extracted, with the exception of the Original Strength product. The Original Strength oil still uses the original IPA extraction process.
While all of their products use the same source, you may see some differences between the Original Strength and the rest of the line (Full, Extra, and Maximum Strength) due to the different extraction processes. The Full, Extra, and Maximum Strength can generally be thought of as the exact same products, just with increasing degrees of concentrated hemp extract infused in them.
One benefit of buying the higher concentrated bottles is a lower cost per milligram. Another benefit is that you can take less oil to get the same dose. For example, you would need to consume 2.5 milliliters of the Full Strength to get 16.6 milligrams of CBD whereas you would only need to consume 1 milliliter of the Extra Strength to get the same 16.6 milligrams of CBD.
Do Charlotte's Web Products Contain CBD?
Charlotte's Web products are described and labeled as “hemp oils” with “hemp extract” in them. As a result, people are often unsure as to whether CW products contain CBD. Rest assured, Charlotte's Web products do indeed contain CBD! It's not uncommon for brands to use the aforementioned terms to get around certain payment processing issues, as well as to stay under the radar of various government agencies.
CBD Content of Charlotte's Web Products
In some cases, the term “hemp extract” in the ingredients list is used as a direct replacement for CBD. For example, one may have 300mg of “hemp extract” in it, when they’re really meaning 300mg of CBD. This can always be verified by contacting the company and checking lab tests.
In case of Charlotte's Web, “hemp extract” is NOT a direct replacement for CBD. Instead, “hemp extract” can be thought of as the total cannabinoid content, with CBD being a minor constituent of it. To find out the CBD content of their products, you have to either contact their customer service team and ask or check their lab test results online.
